Opening its doors everyday at 11 A.M. and closing most days at 1 A.M. Messini Authentic Gyros is one of the few restaurants that caters to younger crowd, especially with their 5 A.M. closing time on Friday and Saturday nights. Most of Messini’s customers are between the ages of 13 to 38; however the core group is people between the ages of 18 to 30. When most people come out of a club after a long night they are generally hungry and tend to settle for anything they can find. Messini’s decided to remain open late offering them real food. Not only are gyros a healthy alternative at night when pizza or burgers are all there is to choose from, they are also a delicious, filling meal choice for any other time of the day.

Having had experience in the restaurant industry for a number of years in Greece and Germany, Marinos Dafnas moved to Canada in 1992 and worked extensively in Montreal and Vancouver managing fine dining restaurants and moved to Toronto 10 years ago with a dream of opening a restaurant of his own. In 2002, at the annual Taste of the Danforth festival, and a few months before his store was slated to open, Dafnas had the opportunity to let the public to taste his product. After receiving a lot of good feedback from the public, and witnessing much anticipation for the grand opening of Messinis, Dafnas knew right away that his Gyros would be a hit.

Marinos Dafnas is a trendy, extroverted individual who consistently acts in the best interest of his customers. Messini Authentic Gyros is a hit with everyone that has experience it, and that has a lot to do with his friendly, caring environment Dafnas has created for himself, his staff, and his customers.
